Quick answer
Choose the Ancol Small Bite Giraffe for puppies and small dogs that love to cuddle, or the Tuff Nutty for medium to large chewers who want a squeaky, floating toy. Neither is indestructible, so match the toy to your dog's chewing habits.
Size and chewing style matter most
The Ancol Small Bite Giraffe is designed specifically for puppies and small animals. Its lightweight, ultra-soft build makes it a comfort toy rather than a heavy-duty chewer. If your dog is still teething or prefers to carry toys around, this is the safer bet.
The Tuff Nutty, on the other hand, is marketed as a chew toy for dogs that like to gnaw. It comes in a large 14.5cm size, which suits medium to large breeds. However, the catalog note reminds us that no toy is indestructible, so even this tougher option needs supervision.
Trade-offs to weigh
- Comfort vs. durability: The Ancol Small Bite Giraffe is ultra-soft and meant for cuddling, not for aggressive chewing. If your dog is a power chewer, it won't last long. Reserve the giraffe for gentle play and supervised sessions.
- Scent and engagement: The Tuff Nutty has a peanut scent that dogs love and a squeaker to keep them engaged. This makes it more stimulating for play, but the squeaker can be a target for chewers. Monitor play if your dog tends to destroy squeaky toys.
- Size and suitability: The Small Bite Giraffe is sized for puppies and small breeds, while the Tuff Nutty Large 14.5cm is better for larger dogs. Choosing the wrong size can lead to choking hazards or disinterest. Measure your dog's mouth and choose the appropriate size.
