Quick answer
If you are running Black Void and your players can already see your notes, buy the Arbiter's Screen first. If your table is still borrowing dice or rolling mismatched sets, start with the Dice Bundle.
What each accessory actually solves
The Arbiter's Screen is a table-privacy and reference tool. Its four panels block player sightlines to your notes and put reference tables in front of you, while the hand-picked cover art sets the mood. The supplementary codicil adds more tables and a creature size overview. It does not replace the core book or supply dice.
The Dice Bundle is a small, focused set of three Q Workshop dice: one D12, one D6, and one D4. It gives a player or Arbiter a themed, matching set for Black Void, but it is not a full polyhedral set and will not cover every roll a full party needs.
The trade-off: privacy versus table readiness
A screen improves the running of the game immediately, but only if you already have the core book and a working set of dice. Buying a screen before anyone owns dice leaves you with a barrier and nothing to roll behind it.
The dice bundle is cheaper and easier to justify as a first purchase, but three dice do not equip a whole table. If four players and an Arbiter all need dice, one bundle will not be enough. Check what your group already owns before treating it as a complete solution.
Decision rules for your table
- You are a new Arbiter with the core book but no screen: Buy the Arbiter's Screen first if your players can see your notes or you keep flipping through the book mid-scene. The screen's reference panels reduce that friction immediately.
- Your group has no dice or only mismatched dice: Buy the Dice Bundle first. A screen is useless if the table cannot make the rolls the game requires. Count how many players need dice before ordering; one bundle covers one person.
- You already own a generic GM screen: The Black Void screen still earns its place if you want system-specific tables and creature size reference in front of you. If your generic screen already holds your notes and you rarely use printed tables, skip it.
- You are buying for a whole group: Prioritize one screen for the Arbiter and enough dice for the table. The Dice Bundle is a single three-die set, so plan quantities rather than assuming one purchase equips everyone.
