This means you can find replacements at most sporting goods stores, and you get more shots per cartridge compared to the stock setup. It's a practical upgrade for range practice or extended carry.

Compatibility Note

The Boost adaptor works with Byrna SD, EP, and HD launchers. It is not compatible with the Byrna CL. Byrna does not recommend using Crosman brand 12 gram CO2 cartridges, as they may not puncture correctly in this adaptor.

Installation Steps

  1. 1. Unload and Safety Check: Ensure your launcher is unloaded and the safety is on. Remove the existing CO2 cylinder by pressing the vent button on the bottom of the grip until all gas is released, then unscrew the old cylinder. Always confirm the launcher is depressurized before disassembly to avoid accidental discharge.
  2. 2. Remove the Stock CO2 Cap: Unscrew the factory CO2 cap from the bottom of the grip. Set it aside. The Boost adaptor replaces this cap entirely. Keep the original cap in a safe place if you ever want to revert to the standard cylinder.
  3. 3. Install the Boost Adaptor: Screw the Byrna Boost adaptor into the same threaded hole where the original cap was. Tighten it hand-tight only—do not overtighten. Overtightening can strip the threads or damage the O-ring. Hand-tight is sufficient.
  4. 4. Insert a 12 Gram CO2 Cartridge: Place a new 12 gram CO2 cartridge into the adaptor with the pointed end facing inward. Screw the knurled collar of the adaptor clockwise until you feel resistance and hear a faint hiss—this means the cartridge has been punctured. If you hear a continuous hiss, the cartridge may not be seated properly or the O-ring might be damaged. Remove and try a fresh cartridge.
  5. 5. Test Function: Turn the safety off, point the launcher in a safe direction, and dry fire (or fire a practice round) to confirm gas flow. If the launcher cycles normally, the installation is complete. Always test in a controlled environment before relying on the launcher for self-defense.
