Quick answer

For a Club Car DS built from 1982 to mid-2000, go with the clear windshield. For a 2000.5 and newer DS, the tinted version is the direct replacement. Your choice also affects glare reduction and visibility.

Why model year matters most

Club Car changed the DS windshield design in mid-2000 (often called 2000.5). The earlier 1982-2000.5 models use a two-piece clear acrylic windshield, while the 2000.5 and newer DS carts require a different profile. Mixing them up means the mounting holes and curvature won't align.

If you drive in bright, sunny conditions regularly, the tinted version reduces glare and keeps the cabin cooler. But if you often drive at dusk, at night, or on shaded courses, the clear acrylic offers maximum visibility.

Trade-offs to consider

Tinted windshields look sharp and cut sun glare, but they can make it harder to see through in low light. Clear windshields give you the best all-around visibility, though they don't block UV or heat as effectively.

Both are made from 3/16" impact-resistant acrylic, so durability is similar. The tinted version costs a few dollars more, but the price difference is small.

Decision rules

  • Check your model year: Look at the serial number plate under the seat or near the dash. If the cart was built before mid-2000, choose the clear windshield (1982-2000.5). If it's mid-2000 or later, choose the tinted windshield (2000.5+). If you are unsure, measure the existing windshield height and compare with the product specs.
  • Assess your lighting conditions: If you drive mostly in full sun, the tinted windshield cuts glare and keeps the cart cooler. If you drive at dawn, dusk, or night, the clear windshield offers the best visibility.
  • Verify hardware compatibility: Both windshields include all necessary mounting hardware. The mounting holes are pre-drilled for the respective model years. No additional drilling or modification is needed. Installation is straightforward; just remove the old windshield and screw in the new one.

Best for
