Quick answer
Choose the Sunny Caribbean for bright, historical pirate or naval games; pick the Fathomless Depths for mysterious deep-sea encounters and sci-fi maritime battles.
Why the setting matters for your game
A seascape mat sets the tone for naval wargames like Dystopian Wars or Blood & Plunder. The Sunny Caribbean delivers a sunlit, vibrant ocean perfect for historical or swashbuckling scenarios. The Fathomless Depths offers a darker, more ominous feel, ideal for games where the unknown lurks beneath the waves.
Key differences between the two mats
Both mats share the same durable, scratch-resistant, heavy-weight matte banner material and are available in a wide range of sizes from 22"x30" up to 44"x90". The main distinction is visual: the Sunny Caribbean features bright blues and sunny skies, while the Fathomless Depths presents a moody, deep blue with a cloudless sky that hints at hidden dangers.
Trade-offs at a glance
- Sunny Caribbean: Bright & Historical: Best for games set in sunny, tropical waters. The light blue sea and clear sky match historical pirate or colonial naval battles. Miniatures stand out against the bright background.
- Fathomless Depths: Dark & Mysterious: Ideal for scenarios involving deep-sea creatures, submarines, or magical underwater realms. The dark blue adds tension and works well with glow-in-the-dark or night-game effects.
- Shared strengths: Both mats are made from the same heavy-weight matte banner material, resist scratches, and come in the same size options. The choice is purely aesthetic and thematic. Consider your typical game setting and miniatures' color scheme when deciding.
