Quick answer

Clean your IEMs regularly by wiping down the shells with a dry cloth and gently removing earwax from the nozzle mesh. For the eartips, wash Marshmallow Tips with mild soap and water, then let them air dry completely before reuse.

Why regular cleaning matters

Earwax, dust, and moisture naturally build up on your IEMs and eartips over time. This buildup can clog the sound nozzle, reduce treble clarity, and make the fit less secure. Regular cleaning keeps the sound signature consistent and extends the life of your earphones.

Marshmallow Tips are made from soft foam that conforms to your ear canal. While they offer excellent comfort and isolation, their porous surface can trap debris more easily than silicone tips. Cleaning them after every few uses prevents bacteria growth and maintains hygiene.

What not to use

Avoid alcohol, solvents, or abrasive cleaners on your IEM shells or eartips. Harsh chemicals can damage the finish, the nozzle mesh, and the foam material of Marshmallow Tips. Stick to mild soap and water for the tips, and a dry microfiber cloth for the IEM bodies.

How to clean your IEMs and Marshmallow Tips

  1. Remove the eartips: Gently pull the Marshmallow Tips off the IEM nozzle. Hold the base of the tip and twist slightly if it feels stuck. Do not yank or use tools that could scratch the nozzle. Checkpoint: Make sure the nozzle mesh is still in place and not dented after removing the tip.
  2. Wipe the IEM shells: Use a dry, lint-free microfiber cloth to wipe the outer shell of each IEM. For stubborn spots, lightly dampen the cloth with water. Never insert anything into the sound bore or nozzle opening.
  3. Wash the Marshmallow Tips: Rinse the foam tips under lukewarm running water. Add a drop of mild hand soap and gently squeeze the foam to work out debris. Rinse thoroughly until no soap remains. Common mistake: Do not wring or twist the foam — it can tear the material. Gently squeeze instead.
  4. Air dry completely: Place the cleaned tips on a clean towel in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight or heat. Let them dry for at least 12 hours. The foam must be fully dry before you put them back on your IEMs. Checkpoint: Squeeze the foam — if any moisture comes out, it is not dry yet. Damp foam can trap bacteria and affect sound.
  5. Reattach and store: Once dry, press the Marshmallow Tips firmly onto the IEM nozzle until they sit flush. Store your IEMs in a case to keep them dust-free between uses.
