Quick answer
Install your ToughTested MagTough Python Wireless Charging Window Mount by cleaning the glass, attaching the suction cup, adjusting the gooseneck arm, and connecting power.
Why a proper installation matters
A secure mount keeps your phone visible and accessible without distracting you from the road. The MagTough Python's temperature-resistant suction cup and modular arm are designed for stability, but only if installed correctly. Skipping steps like cleaning the glass or tightening the pivot can lead to the mount shifting or falling off, especially on hot or cold days.
Installation steps
- Clean the mounting surface: Wipe the inside of your windshield or dashboard with a microfiber cloth and a mild glass cleaner. Remove all dust, grease, and residue. A clean surface is essential for the suction cup to form a tight seal. Even a small speck of dirt can cause the suction cup to lose grip over time.
- Attach the suction cup: Press the suction cup firmly against the clean glass or dash. Flip the lever or press the center button to lock the vacuum seal. Give it a gentle tug to confirm it is secure. If the cup does not hold, re-clean the surface and try again. Avoid mounting on textured or porous surfaces.
- Assemble and adjust the gooseneck arm: The MagTough Python includes a modular gooseneck arm. Add or remove links to get the reach you need. Tighten each joint by hand so the arm holds its shape without sagging. Too many links can make the arm wobble; use only as many as needed to reach your desired position.
- Attach the wireless charging head: Snap or screw the charging head onto the end of the gooseneck arm. Adjust the pivot so the charging pad faces you at a comfortable viewing angle. Lock the pivot in place. Angle the pad so your phone does not block your view of the road or dashboard instruments.
- Connect power: Plug the included USB-C to USB-C cable into the charging head and your car's USB port or a 12V adapter. Route the cable along the edge of the windshield or dash to keep it out of the way. Use a quality car charger that supports at least 15W output to get full wireless charging speed.
- Mount your phone: If your phone is MagSafe or Qi2 compatible, simply bring it near the charging pad — the magnets will align it automatically. For non-MagSafe phones, attach the included metal ring or use a compatible case. Make sure the phone is centered on the pad for reliable charging and a strong magnetic hold.
