Quick answer
Start with the recipient's personality and the occasion, then look for a card with a blank interior so you can write a personal message. For birthdays, choose a whimsical design that matches their sense of humor; for Mother's Day, pick something sentimental with a touch of elegance.
Why blank interior cards give you more freedom
Many greeting cards come with pre-printed messages, but a blank interior gives you the space to write exactly what you feel. This is especially useful when you want to add a personal story, inside joke, or heartfelt note that a pre-written sentiment can't capture. Cards from Good Juju Ink are blank inside, so you can tailor your message to the recipient and occasion.
The trade-off between whimsy and formality
Hand-illustrated designs with foil stamping add a playful, artistic touch that works well for close friends and family. However, for more formal occasions like a sympathy note or a thank-you card to a colleague, you might prefer a simpler, more restrained design. If you're unsure, a card with subtle metallic accents (like red foil on a cake illustration) strikes a balance between special and appropriate.
Your card selection decision rules
- Birthday for a fun-loving friend or child: Choose a card with a playful, hand-illustrated character like the Astronaut Ellie Birthday card. The whimsical design and foil stamping add a touch of magic that matches the celebratory mood.
- Mother's Day for a sentimental mom: Pick a card with a sweet, food-themed illustration and metallic accents, such as the Berry Sweet Mother's Day card. The blank interior lets you write a personal thank-you note.
- Any occasion where you want to include a long message: Opt for a card with a blank interior and a standard A2 size (5.5 x 4.25 inches). This gives you enough space for a heartfelt note without feeling cramped. Check the card dimensions to ensure your message fits comfortably.
