Steps to replace the lid
- Remove the existing lid: Lift the plastic lid straight up off the bean hopper. No twisting or prying is needed – it simply pulls off. If the lid sticks, check that no coffee beans are wedged between the lid and hopper rim.
- Align the wooden lid: Hold the KM Echtholzdeckel so the engraved side faces forward (or any direction you prefer). Lower it onto the hopper so the milled groove sits flush against the hopper walls. The groove measures 11.5 x 11.5 cm – it should slide on without force. If it feels tight, double-check that the hopper is clean and free of debris.
- Press gently to seat: Press down evenly on the lid until you feel it settle. It does not click or lock – friction holds it in place. Do not hammer or push hard; the wood is solid but can crack if forced. A light press is enough.
- Test the fit: Give the lid a gentle wiggle. It should sit firmly without wobbling. Add beans and run the grinder briefly to confirm the lid stays in place during operation. If the lid lifts during grinding, the hopper ring may be worn or the lid may not be fully seated – repeat step 3.
