Quick Answer
The Dash MultiMaker lets you switch between waffle bites, mini donuts, and mini cupcakes by swapping the removable plates. Follow the steps below to get perfectly cooked treats every time.
Why the MultiMaker Beats a Single-Purpose Maker
If you love variety but hate storing multiple appliances, the MultiMaker solves that by using one base with interchangeable plates. You get three treat styles without cluttering your countertop.
Because the plates are nonstick, you can cook with less oil or butter, and cleanup is quicker. That said, you do need to store the extra plates somewhere, so consider that if space is tight.
Choosing the Right Plate for Your Treat
Each plate is designed for a specific treat: waffle bites, mini donuts, or mini cupcakes. Using the wrong plate won't give you the intended shape, so always match the plate to what you're making.
The plate pack is sold separately, so check which plates are included before you start. If you only have the waffle bite plate, you can still make creative shapes, but you won't get donut or cupcake results.
Step-by-Step: Using the MultiMaker
- Set Up the Base: Place the MultiMaker on a flat, heat-safe surface and plug it in. Ensure the removable plate you want to use is locked into place securely. Check that the plate clicks in firmly before heating to avoid uneven cooking.
- Preheat the Maker: Close the lid and let the maker preheat for about 3–5 minutes, or until the indicator light shows it's ready. Most makers have a light that turns on when heating and off when ready. Don't skip preheating—adding batter to a cold maker can cause sticking and uneven results.
- Prepare Your Batter: Use your favorite waffle, donut, or cupcake batter, but keep it slightly thicker than pancake batter for best results. Overly thin batter can overflow the molds. If your batter is too runny, add a little flour to thicken it before pouring.
- Fill the Molds: Use a piping bag or a small spoon to fill each mold about ¾ full. Avoid overfilling, as batter will expand and may spill over the edges. Wipe away any spills immediately—they can burn and make cleanup harder.
- Cook and Check: Close the lid and cook for the recommended time—usually 3–5 minutes. Check for doneness by opening the lid and looking for a golden-brown color. Cooking times may vary, so adjust as needed. If the treat isn't done, close the lid and cook for another minute, checking frequently to avoid burning.
- Remove and Cool: Use a plastic or silicone spatula to gently lift the treats out. Never use metal utensils, as they can scratch the nonstick surface. Place treats on a cooling rack to cool slightly before decorating. Letting them cool for a minute makes them easier to handle and decorate without falling apart.
- Clean Up: Unplug the maker and let it cool completely. Remove the plates and wash them in warm, soapy water or place them on the top rack of the dishwasher if they're dishwasher-safe. Wipe the base with a damp cloth—never submerge it. Always check the manufacturer's instructions for dishwasher safety before cleaning.
