Quick answer
Treat the two 120 ml bottles as a pair: assemble both with the internal vent in place before the first feed, then wash and air-dry the vent parts after every use. The vent is what makes the Options+ design work, so never feed without it.
Why the vent changes your routine
The Dr Brown's Options+ bottles use an internal vent system that channels air away from the feed, and the brand links trapped air to windy, colicky symptoms. That means your daily routine has one extra part to handle compared with a plain bottle, but the payoff is a calmer feed for many babies.
Keep the vent parts together with the bottles. A twin pack gives you two complete sets, so one can be drying while the other is in use.
When the twin pack makes sense, and when it doesn't
A two-bottle pack suits parents who feed in short, frequent sessions or who want a spare set ready while the first is washed. It is less useful if you already own several bottles or if you prefer to sterilise in large batches once a day.
The pack contains 4 oz/120 ml bottles with Level 1 narrow neck teats, so it is aimed at small, early feeds. If your baby is taking larger volumes, you will need to size up separately; the pack does not include larger bottles.
Your day-to-day steps
- Wash and check both bottles before first use: Wash the bottles, teats and vent parts in warm soapy water, rinse well and air-dry. Check that both vent tubes are clear and that no teat is torn. If a vent tube looks blocked, rinse it under running water before assembling.
- Fit the internal vent before adding milk: Place the vent tube into the bottle so it sits inside the neck, then add the teat and collar. Add milk only after the vent is seated. A vent added after the milk is harder to seat and more likely to leak.
- Fill to the level your baby takes: Use the markings on the 120 ml bottle to measure the feed, and screw the collar on firmly but not over-tight. Over-tightening can distort the teat; check the collar is snug, not forced.
- Feed with the vent in place: Hold the bottle so the teat stays full of milk and the vent tube stays upright inside the bottle. Pause and burp as you normally would. Never feed without the vent fitted; the bottle is designed to work with it.
- Disassemble and wash straight after the feed: Take apart the bottle, teat, collar and vent, wash each part in warm soapy water, rinse and air-dry on a clean rack. Washing the vent parts immediately stops milk drying inside the tube.
- Rotate the two bottles: Use one bottle while the other dries, then swap. Keep both vent sets with their own bottle to avoid mixing parts. A simple left-right rotation keeps a clean bottle ready for the next feed.
