What you need
The plate comes with three M5 x 12mm countersunk screws and four M5 x 10mm screws. You'll also need a 4mm hex key (not included) and the Alpha wheel base frame.
Installation steps
- Prepare the frame: Remove any existing wheel base and clean the mounting area on your Alpha frame. Ensure the surface is free of debris or old adhesive. A clean surface prevents misalignment and ensures full contact.
- Position the plate: Place the BavarianSimTec Mounting Plate onto the frame so the countersunk holes align with the threaded inserts. Do not force it—if it doesn't sit flat, check for obstructions. Common mistake: forcing the plate can strip threads. Adjust alignment first.
- Insert the hardware: Hand-thread the three M5 x 12mm countersunk screws into the larger holes. Then insert four M5 x 10mm screws into the remaining holes. Use a 4mm hex key to tighten each screw gradually in a star pattern. Over-tightening can warp the plate or strip the insert. Stop when snug plus a quarter turn.
- Mount the wheel base: Attach your wheel deck or pedal tray to the plate using the existing frame hardware. Check that all fasteners are secure and the assembly does not rock. Test by applying moderate side pressure—any movement means you need to re-torque.
