Installation steps
- Choose the right vent slat: Select a horizontal slat near the center of your vent, away from edges that might block airflow. Press the vent clip's jaws onto the slat until they click into place. Common mistake: mounting on a vertical slat, which can cause the clip to slide off. Test the grip by gently pulling the clip; it should not rotate freely.
- Clean and attach the metal plate: Wipe the back of your phone or case with a dry cloth to remove dust and oil. Peel the backing from the adhesive metal plate and press it firmly onto the center of the surface. Hold for 10 seconds. Common mistake: placing the plate off-center, which can unbalance the magnetic hold. If you plan to remove the plate later, use the included micro-suction pad as a temporary alternative.
- Attach the magnetic ball to the vent mount: Screw the magnetic ball head onto the vent clip's threaded post until hand-tight. Do not overtighten. The ball should sit flush against the mount. Common mistake: cross-threading the ball, which can damage the threads. If the ball feels loose, back it off and re-thread carefully.
- Connect your phone to the mount: Bring the metal plate on your phone close to the magnetic ball. The magnet will pull the phone into place. Adjust the angle by rotating the ball within the mount. Common mistake: dropping the phone from too high, risking a scratch or dent. Always guide the phone slowly toward the magnet until you feel it lock.
- Test the setup and adjust airflow: Turn on your car's air conditioner or heater to check that the vent still moves air freely. If the mount blocks too much airflow, reposition the clip to a different slat. Common mistake: leaving the vent closed, which can overheat the phone in summer. For best cooling, keep the vent open and point it toward the phone's back.
