Quick answer

Play the Blu-ray first for the best picture and sound, then use the DVD as a backup for players that can't handle Blu-ray. Check your player and region before you start.

Why the combo pack gives you options

The INU-OH Blu-ray + DVD combo includes both formats, so you can watch in the living room on a Blu-ray player and still have a disc for a laptop or older DVD player. The Blu-ray typically offers higher resolution and better audio, while the DVD is more universally playable.

If you're unsure which disc to use, start with the Blu-ray. If your player doesn't support Blu-ray, the DVD will work in standard DVD players.

Check your player and region before you start

Blu-ray players and DVDs are region-coded. Most Blu-ray discs from GKIDS are Region A (North America), and DVDs are Region 1. Check your player's region before inserting the disc to avoid playback issues.

If you have a region-free player, you can play discs from any region. Otherwise, confirm your player matches the disc's region.

Steps to get the most from your INU-OH combo

  1. Check your player's region: Look up your Blu-ray or DVD player's region code. Most North American players are Region A for Blu-ray and Region 1 for DVD. If your player is from another region, you may need a region-free player. Mismatched regions are the most common reason a disc won't play.
  2. Start with the Blu-ray disc: Insert the Blu-ray into a Blu-ray player for the best picture and sound. Use the main menu to select play, and explore any bonus features if available. If the Blu-ray doesn't play, try the DVD before assuming the disc is faulty.
  3. Use the DVD as a backup: If you're watching on a computer or a standard DVD player, use the DVD disc. It offers lower resolution but wider compatibility. Keep the DVD in its case when not in use to avoid scratches.
  4. Handle discs carefully: Hold discs by the edges to avoid fingerprints and scratches. Store them in their cases after viewing. Proper handling extends the life of both discs.
