Quick answer
If you want an art-focused collectible that reimagines a childhood icon, the KAWS & Sesame Street Elmo Vinyl Figure delivers a unique designer statement. If you prefer a classic, playful Elmo toy for everyday display or play, a standard licensed Elmo figure is the better fit.
What makes the KAWS Elmo different from a standard Elmo figure?
Standard Elmo figures aim to replicate the character's cheerful TV personality with bright colors, friendly eyes, and a soft, huggable appearance. The KAWS version, by contrast, is a sculptural reinterpretation by artist Brian Donnelly (KAWS). It keeps Elmo's red fur and rounded silhouette but adds the artist's signature crossed-out eyes and a more subdued, introspective expression. This shifts the figure from a toy into a piece of contemporary art.
The KAWS figure also stands at 12.5 inches tall, a substantial size that commands attention on a shelf or desk. Most standard Elmo figures are smaller and made of plush or molded plastic, designed for children. The KAWS figure is vinyl with a clean finish, intended for adult collectors who value design and limited-edition releases.
Price and collectibility trade-offs
The KAWS & Sesame Street Elmo Vinyl Figure is priced at USD 263.99 (with a catalog comparison price of USD 399.99), reflecting its limited release by AllRightsReserved (ARR) and its status as a designer art toy. Standard Elmo figures are widely available for under USD 30 and are not considered investment pieces. The KAWS figure's value comes from its artistic pedigree and scarcity, while a regular Elmo offers immediate, low-cost nostalgia.

-
KAWS & Sesame Street Elmo Vinyl Figure: The KAWS Sesame Street Elmo Vinyl Figure channels the energetic red character into a sculptural form shaped by KAWS’ reinterpretive style. Elmo’s familiar bright tone and rounded features are preserved, but the signature crossed out eyes and softened expression shift the mood toward introspection.
