Quick answer

If you want a festive holiday record that sounds great and looks the part, the Mariah Carey Merry Christmas vinyl on red vinyl is a solid pick. It includes the classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and timeless carols, making it an easy seasonal favorite.

Why red vinyl matters for holiday listening

The red vinyl pressing isn’t just a pretty face—it helps you spot dust and small scratches more easily than black vinyl, so you can keep it clean and sounding its best. It also adds a cheerful visual element to your holiday setup.

What to expect from the pressing

This is a standard weight LP, so it should sit flat on your turntable and play without issues. As with any colored vinyl, a quick brush before each play helps reduce surface noise. The catalog doesn’t specify the exact weight or mastering source, so if you’re after a particular audiophile grade, check the label details before buying.

Holiday vinyl FAQ

Is this the original pressing?

No, this is a current red vinyl reissue. The catalog doesn’t specify the mastering source, so if you’re comparing to an original, check the label or matrix numbers.

How should I store it between holiday seasons?

Keep the record upright in its inner sleeve inside the jacket, away from heat and direct sunlight. A dedicated record storage box or shelf works well to prevent warping. Store it vertically, not stacked, to avoid ring wear and warping.

Do I need a special cleaning routine for colored vinyl?

No special routine is required, but a carbon-fiber brush before each play and a wet clean every few months will keep surface noise low. Avoid alcohol-based cleaners on colored vinyl.

Is this a good gift for someone new to vinyl?

Yes, it’s a popular holiday album that’s widely enjoyed, and the red vinyl makes it a nice introductory piece. Just make sure they have a turntable that can play 12-inch LPs.

What’s the price compared to other holiday vinyl?

At $17.48 (compared to a $23.95 list price), it’s an affordable option for a seasonal record. Prices vary by retailer, so check current listings.
