Quick Answer
The Odd Fellows Merry Sherry Butt is a collectible stainless steel hip flask shaped like a shot glass, concealing a poker deck inside. It's a conversation piece for playing card enthusiasts who appreciate hidden functionality and themed design.
Why This Isn't a Drinking Vessel
The Merry Sherry Butt is designed as a display item and deck holder, not a functional flask. The metal lid is sealed, and the flask is not intended to hold liquids. This is a key distinction for anyone expecting a usable shot glass or flask for spirits.
The Deck Inside: The Odd Fellows from The Sanctuary
Inside the flask is a poker-size deck of playing cards featuring the Odd Fellows from The Sanctuary. This deck ties into the brand's narrative of a gang of petty criminals disguised as clergy, bootlegging spirits and running crooked games. The cards add a layer of storytelling that complements the flask's design.
Build and Finish
The flask is made of stainless steel with a pale brass tint and embossing on all sides. It feels substantial but is not meant for everyday carry. The finish is durable enough for display but may show fingerprints over time.
Decision Rules
- Collector of The Odd Fellows series: If you already own other Odd Fellows items (coins, decks, etc.), this flask fits the narrative and completes the collection.
- Fan of hidden surprises: The deck inside is a bonus that adds value for those who enjoy unboxing and discovering themed cards. Check if you already have the Odd Fellows deck to avoid duplication.
- Display over function: This item is meant for a shelf, not a pocket. Buy it for its aesthetic and story, not for practical use. If you need a functional flask, look elsewhere.
