Quick answer

Choose OHM Au Naturalle Menthol if you want a cool, refreshing menthol smoke in bulk at a low price per ounce. Pick Captain Black Regular if you prefer a mellow, aromatic vanilla blend in convenient resealable pouches.

Flavor profile and smoking experience

OHM Au Naturalle Menthol delivers a crisp, invigorating menthol finish that stays smooth throughout the bowl. The menthol note is present but not overpowering, making it a good choice for smokers who want a cool sensation without harshness.

Captain Black Regular is an aromatic classic built on Golden Virginias, Burley, and Black Cavendish with a light vanilla top note. It burns cool and smells sweet in the room, which appeals to smokers who enjoy a softer, more social tobacco.

Value and format differences

OHM comes in a single 16-ounce bag, offering a very low cost per ounce for long-term storage or heavy use. The bulk format works well if you smoke frequently or like to keep a large supply on hand.

Captain Black is sold as five separate 1.5-ounce resealable pouches. The smaller pouches are portable and stay fresh longer after opening, but the per-ounce cost is higher than OHM's bulk bag.

Trade-offs at a glance

  • Menthol vs aromatic: OHM provides a cool menthol sensation; Captain Black offers a sweet vanilla aromatic profile.
  • Bulk vs pouches: OHM is a 16-oz bulk bag for low cost per smoke; Captain Black comes in five 1.5-oz resealable pouches for portability and freshness. If you smoke only occasionally, the pouch format may waste less tobacco.
  • Strength and body: OHM's menthol blend is smooth but the menthol adds a distinct chill; Captain Black's Burley-Cavendish mix is mellow and light. Neither is a heavy English blend; both suit beginners or those who prefer mild smokes.
