Quick Answer

The One Night Only DVD is a solid pick for fans who want a live Elton John concert with famous guest duets and a clean widescreen picture, though note it lacks subtitles.

Why the One Night Only DVD Stands Out

This disc captures a special Madison Square Garden performance where Elton John plays over two dozen of his biggest hits alongside famous friends. That guest lineup is the main draw, turning familiar songs into one-off duets you won't hear on studio albums.

The widescreen anamorphic transfer (1.77:1) means the concert fills a modern 16:9 TV without letterbox bars, and the Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack gives the live mix a fuller surround feel. For a DVD-era release, these specs hold up well for casual viewing.

Trade-Offs to Know Before You Buy

There are no subtitles or closed-captions on this release, so if you rely on captions or want to sing along with the lyrics, you'll need to follow along by ear. The bonus features are light—just the "I Want Love" video—so don't expect a deep documentary or extensive backstage footage.
