Quick answer
Choose the Taggies Flora Fawn Baby Mat (31×23″) if you want a larger mat with satin tags that keep little hands busy. Choose the Putty Bear Baby Mat if you prefer a simpler plush surface and a lower price.
Size and portability
The Taggies Flora Fawn mat measures 31×23 inches, giving a bit more room for tummy time or play. The Putty Bear mat’s dimensions are not listed, so if floor space is tight, check the product page before ordering. Both mats are described as convenient to take along, but the larger Fawn mat may take up more room in a diaper bag.
Texture and sensory details
The Taggies mat features soft satin loops inspired by a mom’s observation of her child’s fascination with tags. These textured loops can provide tactile stimulation and a calming effect for babies who like to rub different fabrics. The Putty Bear mat focuses on a luxuriously soft plush surface with all embroidered details, without added tags. If your baby seeks extra sensory input, the Taggies mat has an edge; if you prefer a streamlined plush, the Putty Bear is simpler.
Gift appeal and value
The Putty Bear Baby Mat is described as a “WOW” baby shower gift and a top celebrity pick, making it a strong choice for gifting. The Taggies Flora Fawn mat carries the Taggies brand story, which may resonate with parents who already know the tag concept. At catalog prices of USD 37.80 for Putty Bear and USD 49.58 for Taggies Fawn (both compared to higher list prices), the Putty Bear is the more budget-friendly option, while the Fawn offers a larger size and added sensory feature.
Key trade-offs to weigh
- Size vs. simplicity: The Taggies Fawn mat offers a defined 31×23″ play area, while the Putty Bear mat’s size is not specified. If you need a guaranteed larger surface, the Fawn is the safer pick; if you want a compact mat, check the Putty Bear dimensions first.
- Sensory features vs. plush comfort: The Taggies mat includes satin tags for tactile stimulation, which can calm and engage babies. The Putty Bear mat focuses on a soft plush surface without tags. Choose based on whether your baby enjoys extra textures or prefers a simpler feel.
- Price vs. gifting wow factor: The Putty Bear mat is priced lower (USD 37.80 vs. USD 49.58) and is marketed as a standout shower gift. The Taggies mat costs more but offers a larger size and the tag feature. Set a budget and decide which matters more.
