Quick answer
Choose the Pyrex 22-Piece Kitchen Tools & Gadgets Set if you want the extra grater, ice cream scoop, can opener, and basting brush. Pick the 18-Piece Set if those extras aren't essential and you prefer a lower price.
What the extra pieces add
The 22-piece set includes four tools the 18-piece set leaves out: a grater, an ice cream scoop, a can opener, and a basting brush. If you regularly grate cheese, scoop ice cream, open cans, or baste roasts, those extras save you from buying them separately. The 18-piece set covers all the basics—turner, spoon, ladle, pasta scoop, masher, whisk, spatula, pizza wheel, peeler, locking tongs, measuring cups, and measuring spoons—so you won't miss anything essential.
Price difference and value
The 22-piece set costs $32.49 (catalog comparison price $49.99), while the 18-piece set costs $27.19 (catalog comparison price $39.99). That's a $5.30 difference for four extra tools. If you'd buy those four items individually, the 22-piece set is the better value. If you rarely use a grater, ice cream scoop, can opener, or basting brush, the 18-piece set gives you the same core tools for less.
Trade-offs at a glance
- Extra tools vs. lower price: The 22-piece set adds a grater, ice cream scoop, can opener, and basting brush for $5.30 more. If you'll use those tools, the upgrade pays off. If not, the 18-piece set gives you the same core tools for less.
- Storage and clutter: The 22-piece set has four more items to store. If your kitchen drawer or caddy is tight, the 18-piece set may fit more easily without sacrificing essential tools.
- One-time purchase vs. piecemeal: Buying the 22-piece set now means you won't need to shop for a grater or can opener later. The 18-piece set is a great starting point, but you may end up buying those extras individually. Consider how often you grate, scoop, open cans, or baste before deciding.
