Quick Answer
SodaStream Classics Ginger Ale drink mix is a syrup that lets you make crisp, nostalgic ginger ale at home. It's easy to use: carbonate cold water, add the syrup, and stir gently.
What Makes This Syrup Different
Unlike some other SodaStream flavors, the Classics Ginger Ale syrup is designed to recreate a familiar, nostalgic soda taste. It's a versatile base that works well on its own or as a mixer for cocktails and mocktails. The key is to use cold, freshly carbonated water for the best fizz retention.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use SodaStream Ginger Ale syrup?
Carbonate cold water in your SodaStream machine. Then, add the recommended amount of syrup (usually about 1-2 tablespoons per 500ml, but check the bottle) and stir gently with a long spoon. Avoid shaking to prevent excess foam. Always carbonate first, then add syrup.
Can I carbonate the syrup directly?
No. Carbonating the syrup itself can cause excessive foaming and may damage your carbonating bottle. Always carbonate plain water first. Never carbonate any liquid other than plain water.
How should I store the syrup?
Keep the bottle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Refrigeration is not required but can help maintain freshness after opening. Store at room temperature for best shelf life.
How long does an opened bottle last?
SodaStream syrups generally last several months after opening if stored properly. Use the 'best by' date on the bottle as a guide, and check for any off smells or flavors before use. Use within a few months for optimal taste.
Is this syrup suitable for cocktails?
Yes. The crisp ginger ale flavor makes it an excellent mixer for spirits like whiskey, vodka, or rum. Simply make the sparkling ginger ale as usual and then combine with your chosen spirit. A versatile mixer for home bars.
