Quick answer
Install the Solitude 6 Full Nest after pitching your Solitude 6P tipi, starting with the center attachment and working outward to keep the floor taut and the bug screen aligned.
Why add a nest to your tipi?
A full nest turns an open-floor tipi into a sealed shelter, blocking bugs, insects, and small critters while giving you a clean surface to sleep and store gear. The Solitude 6 Full Nest is purpose-built for the Solitude 6P, so it fits without extra hardware or modifications.
The trade-off is weight and pack volume. If you hunt in dry, bug-free terrain and prioritize a minimalist load, you may prefer the open tipi floor. But for warm-weather hunts, swampy ground, or areas with heavy insect pressure, the nest is a practical upgrade that preserves the tipi's livability.
How to install the Solitude 6 Full Nest
- Pitch your Solitude 6P tipi first: Set up the tipi as usual with the center pole and stakes. Make sure the tent is fully tensioned before adding the nest. A loose pitch will make the floor sag. Check that all guy lines are tight and the fabric is drum-tight before moving on.
- Attach the center of the nest to the tipi peak: Reach up inside the tipi and clip or tie the nest's center loop to the peak attachment point. This aligns the nest with the tipi's shape. If the nest feels twisted, untwist it before securing the corners.
- Stake out the four corners of the nest: Pull each corner of the nest outward to the tipi wall and stake it down through the provided loops. Work in a cross pattern (opposite corners first) to keep the floor flat. Don't overstretch the corners—the nest should lie flat without wrinkles, but too much tension can strain the seams.
- Zip the nest to the tipi wall: Starting at one corner, zip the nest's perimeter to the matching zipper track inside the tipi. Run the zipper smoothly around the entire circumference, checking for fabric bunching. If the zipper snags, back up a few inches and try again—forcing it can damage the teeth.
- Adjust tension and check the door alignment: Walk around the nest and adjust the corner stakes so the floor is taut and the door opening lines up with the tipi's door. The nest should feel snug but not stretched. A misaligned door will make entry awkward; shift the stakes slightly until the zipper path is straight.
