Quick Answer
The Super7 ULTIMATES! Wave 3 Slithe is a must-have for dedicated ThunderCats collectors who value screen-accurate detail and high articulation, but casual fans may find the price point steep.
Why Slithe Stands Out in Wave 3
Wave 3 of the ThunderCats ULTIMATES! line brings one of the most recognizable mutants from Third Earth to the forefront. Slithe's design captures the character's reptilian menace with a premium paint application that stays true to the original cartoon aesthetic.
While earlier waves focused on the ThunderCats themselves, this figure expands your villain roster significantly. Slithe's larger build and distinct silhouette make him a centerpiece display piece, especially when posed alongside Lion-O or Tygra.
Trade-Offs to Consider
The ULTIMATES! line prioritizes articulation and accessories, which drives the price higher than standard action figures. If you are a completionist aiming for a full ThunderCats display, this investment pays off in shelf presence. However, if you only pick up occasional figures, the cost may feel disproportionate.
Slithe's sculpt includes delicate appendages and thin tail sections. While durable for display, repeated play or heavy handling may stress those parts. Collectors who intend to pose and repose frequently should handle with care.
Decision Rules for Buying Slithe
- Articulation Priority: If dynamic posing is your main goal, Slithe's 20+ points of articulation deliver. He can replicate fighting stances, crawling, and standing menace poses. Check that your display shelf has enough depth for tail clearance.
- Accessory Count: The figure includes multiple interchangeable hands, heads, and weapons. Review the full accessory list before purchase to ensure it matches your display vision.
- Price vs. Value: At a catalog price of USD 46.80 (compared to USD 65.00), Slithe offers a discount off the suggested retail. This is typical for the ULTIMATES! line and reflects the premium sculpt and paint. Compare with aftermarket prices if you missed the initial release; secondary market markups can be significant.
