Quick answer
Install the Streamlight TLR7-Sub on a 1913 rail by using the included rail clamp system—no tools required. Ensure the correct key is selected for your firearm's rail slot to prevent loose fitment.
Before you start: compatibility check
The TLR7-Sub is designed specifically for subcompact handguns with a 1913 Picatinny rail, such as the SIG XMacro. It will not fit universal or proprietary rail cuts like Glock's. Check that your firearm has a single-slot 1913 rail section at the front of the trigger guard.
If your gun uses a different rail standard (e.g., Glock style), you need a different model. The 1913 version is not interchangeable with other TLR7-Sub variants.
Step-by-step installation
- 1. Inspect your rail and select the correct key: Remove the battery door and slide the rail clamp system off the light body. The kit includes multiple keys; pick the one that fits snugly into your pistol's 1913 rail slot. For most SIG XMacro rails, use the key marked '1913-1'. Using the wrong key causes wobble or prevents the light from seating fully.
- 2. Attach the rail clamp to the light body: Place the selected key into the rail clamp channel on the light. Slide the clamp assembly back onto the light body until it clicks into place. The clamp should be oriented so the screw head faces the rear of the light. The clamp only fits one way—if it feels forced, flip the key or recheck orientation.
- 3. Position the light on your firearm: Hold the light so the lens faces forward and the ambidextrous paddles are on the sides. Align the rail clamp with the 1913 rail slot on your pistol's trigger guard. Slide the light onto the rail from front to back until it stops. Do not force the light onto the rail—if it doesn't slide easily, the key may be misaligned.
- 4. Tighten the clamp screw by hand: Use the included hex wrench (or a flathead screwdriver) to tighten the clamp screw clockwise. Tighten until you feel resistance, then give a quarter turn more. Do not overtighten—the clamp is plastic and can strip. Overtightening can crack the clamp or strip the screw head, requiring replacement.
- 5. Test for secure fitment and function: Ensure the light does not move when you apply moderate pressure. Activate the safe-off feature by pressing both paddles simultaneously, then cycle through momentary and constant-on modes. Verify the beam is centered and the light does not obstruct holster insertion. If the light shifts during use, the key is wrong or the clamp is not tight enough—recheck both.
Product facts
-
TLR7 Sub - 1913 Rail: The Streamlight TLR7-Sub securely attaches to subcompact handguns with a 1913 Picatinny rail, including the SIG XMacro. This ensures the light stays locked during recoil and doesn't shift under use, which is critical for maintaining zero and preventing damage.
