Quick Answer

Mount your TRX Horizontal Rack on a sturdy wall with proper anchors, then organize your gear by weight and frequency of use for efficient workouts.

Why a Horizontal Rack Works for Suspension Training

Unlike vertical racks that take up floor space, horizontal racks keep your TRX bands, YBells, and accessories at eye level. The three-tiered shelving lets you see everything at a glance, so you grab what you need without digging through a bin.

The heavy-duty steel construction and rounded edges protect both your equipment and your walls. Rubber padding on each shelf prevents YBells from scratching or shifting during storage.

Mounting and Setup Steps

  1. Choose the Location: Select a wall stud or solid concrete wall near your workout area. Avoid drywall alone—the rack loaded with gear can exceed 100 lbs. Measure the assembled rack length (Short: 41" or Long: 65") and mark stud locations. Check that you have at least 24 inches of clearance on each side for reaching shelves.
  2. Assemble the Rack: Attach the three-tier shelves to the side panels using the included bolts and wrench. Tighten all fasteners before mounting. The Short rack fits 2-3 YBells per shelf; the Long holds 4-5. Do not overtighten—steel can strip. Snug is enough.
  3. Mount to Wall Studs: Use a level to mark pilot holes through the rack’s back brackets into the studs. Drill pilot holes, then drive the supplied lag bolts (or equivalent #10 screws for concrete). Secure all brackets. If you hit a stud, stop—do not drill through it. Use a stud finder before drilling.
  4. Organize Gear by Weight and Frequency: Place heaviest YBells on the bottom shelf, lighter bands and accessories on the middle, and frequently used items (like your TRX suspension trainer) on the top shelf at eye level. This keeps the rack stable and your workout flow fast. Avoid stacking YBells more than two high—rubber padding helps but sliding can still happen.
  5. Test Stability Before First Workout: Gently shake the rack after loading to confirm no wobble. If it moves, tighten the bolts or add a second set of anchors. Then arrange your workout sequence so you grab from top to bottom. A wobbly rack during a burpee or kettlebell swing is dangerous—fix it before you start.
