Quick answer
A whiteboard duster works best when cleaned regularly and stored correctly. For most classrooms, a magnetic mini duster like the Whiteboard Duster from One Dollar Only offers a budget-friendly and practical solution.
Why cleaning matters
A dirty duster can leave streaks and smudges on your whiteboard, making it harder to read notes. Regular cleaning keeps the felt free of excess marker residue and ensures a clean erase every time.
Storage tips for longevity
Store your duster in a dry, cool place. Avoid leaving it in direct sunlight or near heat sources, as the felt can dry out and become brittle. If your duster is magnetic, it can be conveniently attached to the board itself.
Frequently asked questions
How do I clean a whiteboard duster?
Tap the duster gently against a hard surface to remove loose chalk or marker dust. For deeper cleaning, hand-wash the felt with mild soap and warm water, then let it air dry completely before reuse. Avoid machine washing or wringing the felt. Clean your duster when you notice streaks; a weekly tap-out is usually enough for normal use.
Can I use a whiteboard duster on a chalkboard?
It is not recommended. Whiteboard dusters are designed for dry erase markers and may not remove chalk dust effectively. Using them on chalkboards can also transfer chalk residue to your whiteboard. Stick to using the duster only on whiteboards for best results.
How many dusters do I need for a classroom?
For a typical classroom, plan on one duster per 2-3 students or per board. The Whiteboard Duster from One Dollar Only is sold in packs of 5, making it easy to stock up for group use. Order in multiples of 5 to meet minimum quantity and share among students or colleagues.
