Quick answer
The Ace Fulton's Casino Sample Playing Cards are a must-have for serious collectors who value rarity and a unique blend of classic casino back designs. This deck is not for daily play or beginners looking for a standard performer.
Why this deck stands out
The Ace Fulton's Casino Sample Playing Cards are not your typical deck. They were created as a faux sales sample to showcase multiple Ace Fulton classics in one deck, making them a genuine piece of casino memorabilia. The back design is half Dodger Blue and half Red Hot, a striking combination you won't find on any other production deck.
The deck also features various suits printed on white stock, similar to the Midnight Fuel Edition, and one suit even includes Arrco Faces, reminiscent of the green and gold variants. This mix of elements from different eras and editions makes it a fascinating study for collectors.
What to consider before buying
Because this deck was a sample, it was never intended for mass distribution or regular use. The card stock and finish may differ from standard production decks, and the design is more about display and historical value than handling. If you plan to perform card tricks or play frequent poker games, a standard Fulton's deck would serve you better.
Rarity also affects price. The catalog comparison price of USD 20.00 versus the actual price of USD 14.20 suggests a discount, but for a sample deck, the value is in its scarcity and uniqueness rather than everyday utility.
Decision rules for collectors
- Rarity first: If you prioritize owning a rare piece of casino memorabilia over a functional playing deck, this sample is a strong choice. Its limited production and unique back design make it a conversation starter. Check the condition and authenticity before purchase.
- Display vs. use: This deck is best kept in a protective case or displayed as part of a collection. The mixed design elements mean it may not shuffle or handle like a standard deck. Consider a separate deck for regular play.
- Budget consideration: At USD 14.20 (compared to USD 20.00), it offers a discount for a sample item, but its value is in collectibility. If you are on a tight budget, a standard Fulton's deck may be more practical. Weigh the price against your collecting goals.
