Quick answer
For young kids, choose the RG-K32B for its playful cat-ear design and simple appeal; for older children who want a larger game library and WiFi, the R36T offers more value.
Design and durability considerations
The RG-K32B features a cute cat-ear shape with soft pastel colors and bright yellow buttons, making it visually engaging for younger kids. Its rounded, soft curves feel friendly and are less likely to intimidate small hands.
The R36T, while lacking the playful aesthetic, has a more traditional handheld design that may appeal to older children who prefer a classic gaming look.
Game library and connectivity trade-offs
The R36T comes preloaded with over 18,000 classic games and supports 5G WiFi, allowing for online features and cloud saves. This is a significant advantage for kids who want variety and modern conveniences.
The RG-K32B does not advertise a specific game count or WiFi, so it's better suited for offline, pick-up-and-play sessions. Parents should consider whether their child needs a vast library or just a few reliable favorites.
Trade-off decision guide
- For ages 5-8: Choose the RG-K32B for its cute, kid-friendly design and simple operation. The soft curves and bright colors are more appealing to younger children. Check if the RG-K32B's game library includes your child's favorite titles.
- For ages 9+: Opt for the R36T to access a massive library and WiFi features. Older kids will appreciate the variety and online capabilities. Consider parental controls for online features on the R36T.
- If your child loves variety: The R36T's 18,000+ games provide endless options, but may be overwhelming for younger kids. The RG-K32B offers a more curated experience. Think about whether your child prefers choice or simplicity.
