Quick answer
The Avatar: The Last Airbender (Soundtrack from the Netflix Series) 2xLP is a solid pick for fans of the live-action adaptation who want a curated, cinematic listening experience on vinyl. Focus on the pressing quality and whether you prefer the Netflix score over the original animated soundtrack before buying.
Why this vinyl matters
The 2024 Netflix live-action adaptation brought a new musical perspective to the world of Avatar. This 2xLP collects the series' reimagined score, blending familiar themes with new arrangements. For collectors, it represents a distinct chapter in the franchise's audio history, separate from the original animated series' soundtracks.
Key trade-offs to consider
This release focuses on the live-action score, not the original animated series music. If your attachment is to the 2005 soundtrack, this may feel different. The 2xLP format offers dynamic range but requires proper storage and handling to avoid warping or surface noise. Also, as a catalog item, its availability and price may fluctuate.
Your buying decision rules
- Check the tracklist: Review the official tracklist to confirm it includes the specific cues and themes you want. The Netflix score is a reinterpretation, not a direct replica of the animated series soundtrack.
- Inspect pressing quality: Look for reviews or community feedback on the 2xLP pressing—surface noise, warping, and center-hole fit can vary. A well-pressed copy is essential for clean playback. If possible, buy from a seller with a good return policy for defective vinyl.
- Compare with other Avatar vinyl: If you already own the animated series soundtrack on vinyl, decide if the Netflix version offers enough new material to justify a duplicate. It's a companion piece, not a replacement.
- Consider storage and care: Double vinyl sets are more prone to warping. Store the 2xLP vertically in a cool, dry place and handle by the edges to preserve sound quality. Invest in anti-static inner sleeves for long-term protection.
