If you're new to the world of anime figures, you've probably heard the name Banpresto. As one of the most popular manufacturers of prize figures, Banpresto offers a fantastic entry point for collectors. Their figures are affordable, widely available, and cover a huge range of anime and manga series. But with so many options, where do you start?
This guide is designed to help beginners navigate the exciting world of Banpresto collecting. We'll cover what makes Banpresto special, how to choose your first figures, and essential tips for building a collection you'll love. By the end, you'll be ready to start your own Banpresto journey with confidence.
What Are Banpresto Figures?
Banpresto is a Japanese company known for producing prize figures, which are typically won in arcade games or purchased directly. Unlike high-end collectibles such as Nendoroids or Figma, Banpresto figures are designed to be accessible and affordable. They often feature dynamic poses and detailed sculpts that rival more expensive lines, making them a favorite among budget-conscious collectors.
Banpresto figures are released in waves, often tied to popular series like One Piece, Naruto, and Dragon Ball. They come in various sizes and styles, from standard scale figures to larger 'Grandista' pieces. Because they're mass-produced, they're easier to find and collect, making them perfect for beginners who want to build a collection without breaking the bank.
- Affordable price point compared to other figure lines
- Wide variety of series and characters
- Great quality for the price
Why Start with Banpresto?
For beginners, Banpresto offers several advantages. First, the lower price point means you can experiment with different series and styles without a huge financial commitment. Second, the sheer variety means you're likely to find figures from your favorite anime. Finally, Banpresto figures are often easier to obtain than limited edition figures, as they're released in larger quantities.
Take, for example, the Banpresto – Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End – Frieren Effectreme Figure. This stunning figure captures the beloved character Frieren in a dynamic pose, and it's a perfect example of the quality Banpresto delivers. Even if you're new to collecting, figures like this can become the centerpiece of your collection.
- Low financial risk for new collectors
- Easy to find and purchase
- High-quality designs that look great on display

Caring for Your Banpresto Figures
Once you've started your collection, proper care is essential to keep your figures looking their best. Dust is the biggest enemy, so display your figures in a closed cabinet or use a soft brush to gently clean them. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can cause colors to fade over time.
If you need to move or store your figures, keep their original packaging or use bubble wrap to protect them. Banpresto figures are durable, but they can still be damaged if handled roughly. With a little care, your collection will remain vibrant and beautiful for years to come.
- Display in a dust-free environment
- Keep away from direct sunlight
- Store in original packaging when not displayed
