If you're new to anime figure collecting, the sheer variety of brands and price points can feel overwhelming. Taito, a Japanese company known for its prize figures, is often the go-to recommendation for beginners. Their figures offer impressive quality at a fraction of the cost of scale figures, making them perfect for those just starting their collection. In this guide, we'll explore why Taito figures are so popular, what to look for when buying, and some of the best Taito figures for beginners in 2026.
Taito prize figures are typically available through crane games and lottery prizes in Japan, but they are also widely sold at retail. They are known for their dynamic poses, detailed sculpts, and vibrant paint applications, often rivaling more expensive figures. Whether you're a fan of Hatsune Miku, anime classics, or cute characters, Taito has something for everyone. Let's dive into the world of Taito figures and help you start your collection on the right foot.
Why Choose Taito Figures?
Taito figures are an excellent entry point for collectors because they balance quality and affordability. Unlike high-end scale figures that can cost over $100, Taito prize figures typically range from $20 to $40, making them budget-friendly. Despite the lower price, Taito doesn't skimp on detail. Their figures often feature intricate sculpting, dynamic poses, and sturdy bases, making them great for display.
Another advantage is the sheer variety. Taito produces figures for popular franchises like Hatsune Miku, Demon Slayer, and One Piece, so you're likely to find your favorite characters. They also release multiple series, such as the 'Noodle Stopper' line, which features figures that sit on the edge of a bowl, and the 'Coreful' line, known for its elegant poses. This variety allows beginners to explore different styles and find what they love.
- Affordable price point (typically $20–$40)
- High-quality sculpting and paint for the price
- Wide range of popular anime and game franchises
- Multiple series to suit different display preferences
What to Look for in a Taito Figure
When buying your first Taito figure, consider the character and series you love most. Enthusiasm for the source material will make the figure more meaningful. Next, examine the figure's size and display requirements. Most Taito figures are around 20cm tall, so they fit easily on a shelf or desk. Check the base – some are simple, while others are more decorative. For beginners, a simple base is often easier to display.
Also, pay attention to the figure's pose and stability. Some dynamic poses may require a support rod, which can be a slight visual distraction. If you prefer a cleaner look, opt for figures with standing poses or those that sit, like the Noodle Stopper series. Finally, always buy from reputable sellers to avoid bootlegs. Look for official licensing and check reviews to ensure authenticity.
