Quick answer
The BrassMag Miniature Expansion is a collectible pewter miniatures set for burncycle, best for players who want to add visual flair to their games. If you’re purely after gameplay changes, this expansion doesn’t add new mechanics—it’s a cosmetic upgrade.
What the BrassMag Miniature Expansion is (and isn’t)
The BrassMag Miniature Expansion is a set of pewter miniatures with a brass alloy finish, designed to replace the standard cardboard tokens or miniatures in burncycle. It’s a cosmetic accessory that adds a premium, collectible feel to your game table.
This expansion does not introduce new gameplay mechanics, characters, or scenarios. It’s purely a visual upgrade, so if you’re expecting new content, you’ll want to look elsewhere.
The trade-off: durability vs. cost
The pewter construction with a brass alloy finish makes these miniatures more durable than standard plastic or cardboard components. They’re built to endure repeated handling, which is great for frequent players.
However, this durability comes at a premium price. At $47.22 (compared to a catalog price of $74.95), you’re paying for the material and craftsmanship, not for extra gameplay. If you’re on a budget or don’t care about miniatures, this might not be the best use of your money.
Decision rules: Should you buy the BrassMag Miniature Expansion?
- If you’re a collector or hobbyist: Buy it if you enjoy painting, displaying, or collecting high-quality miniatures. The pewter material and brass finish are a standout addition to any collection.
- If you’re a frequent player: Buy it if you play burncycle often and want components that will hold up over time. The durability of pewter is a practical upgrade for regular use. Consider how often you play—if it’s more than a few times a year, the durability may justify the cost.
- If you’re on a budget: Skip it if you’re looking for new gameplay content or if the price feels steep for a cosmetic upgrade. The standard components work just fine for playing the game. If you’re unsure, wait for a sale or check if you’d rather spend the money on a gameplay expansion.
