Quick answer
The Chessex Festive Waterlily dice block gives you 36 colorful 12mm d6 dice in a clear container. It's a practical, affordable way to get a matching set for games that need lots of dice, but the small size and color variation are important to consider.
Color Variation Is Part of the Charm
Chessex notes that the unique design of these dice means coloring varies from set to set and may not be exactly as pictured. This isn't a flaw—it's a feature of the Waterlily swirl pattern. If you need every die to look identical, this block might not be for you. But if you enjoy a bit of organic variation, each die will have its own subtle character.
12mm Size: Small but Practical
At 12mm, these dice are noticeably smaller than standard 16mm dice. That makes them great for rolling many at once or for travel, but they can be harder to read for some players. The white numbers help visibility, but the small faces mean the numbers are also small. Consider whether you or your group prefers larger dice for clarity.
How to decide if this dice block is right for you
- Need many dice for one game?: This block gives you 36 d6 dice, so it's perfect for games where each player needs several dice or for games that require rolling large pools.
- Prefer uniform colors?: The Waterlily pattern varies between dice. If you want every die to match exactly, look for a solid-color dice block instead. Check the product photos and note that actual dice may differ.
- Worried about readability?: The 12mm size and white numbers help, but the small faces may be hard to read for some. Try a sample if possible, or choose 16mm dice for better legibility.
