In this review, we'll dive into what makes this tumbler stand out and whether it lives up to the hype.
We spent time using the Collegiate Trek Tumbler in real-world scenarios: a sunny afternoon tailgate, a long car ride to an away game, and even a study session in the library. We evaluated its insulation performance, handle comfort, lid design, and overall durability. If you're in the market for a college tumbler that blends style with function, this review will help you decide if it's worth adding to your game day gear.
First Impressions: Design and Build Quality
The Collegiate Trek Tumbler makes a strong first impression straight out of the box. The exterior features vibrant, officially licensed college colors and graphics that immediately catch the eye. The powder-coated finish feels smooth to the touch and provides a secure grip, even when your hands are a little sweaty from the excitement of the game. The construction feels solid, with a sturdy stainless steel body that suggests it can handle the occasional drop on concrete.
One of the first things you'll notice is the comfortable handle. Unlike some tumblers that have flimsy or awkwardly placed handles, the Trek Tumbler's handle is well-designed, making it easy to carry even when full. The lid fits snugly and features a sliding closure that prevents spills when you're on the move. We appreciate the attention to detail, from the embossed logo to the seamless transition between the handle and the body.
- Available in a wide range of college teams and colors
- Powder-coated finish for a non-slip grip
- Secure, leak-resistant lid with a sliding closure
Insulation Performance: Keeps Drinks Cold for Hours
The primary job of any game day cup is to keep your drink cold, and the Collegiate Trek Tumbler excels in this area. We filled it with ice and water at 10 a.m. and found that ice remained even after eight hours in the sun. The double-wall vacuum insulation is clearly effective, maintaining the temperature of your beverage without any external condensation. This means no wet rings on your tailgate table, and your drink stays refreshingly cold from kickoff to the final whistle.
We also tested it with hot coffee, and while it's marketed as a cold drink tumbler, it kept the coffee warm for a solid two hours. This versatility makes it a great option not just for game day but also for morning commutes or camping trips. The insulated tumbler with handle is designed to fit in most standard cup holders, so you can take it with you in the car without worrying about spills.
- Double-wall vacuum insulation keeps ice for up to 8 hours
- No condensation on the outside, thanks to the insulation
- Fits standard cup holders (up to 3.5 inches in diameter)
Lid and Drinking Experience
The lid on the Collegiate Trek Tumbler is one of its best features. It features a clear, durable plastic construction that allows you to see your drink level at a glance. The sliding closure locks securely into place, preventing leaks even when the tumbler is tipped over in a backpack. The drinking opening is wide enough to allow a good flow of liquid but not so wide that you'll accidentally spill on your jersey.
We appreciated that the lid is easy to clean and dishwasher safe, though we recommend hand washing to preserve the graphics. The straw opening is also compatible with standard reusable straws, which is a nice touch for those who prefer using a straw. Overall, the lid enhances the usability of the tumbler, making it a reliable choice for busy game days.
- Sliding closure locks to prevent spills
- Dishwasher safe lid (top rack recommended)
- Compatible with standard reusable straws
Versatility Beyond Game Day
While the Collegiate Trek Tumbler is marketed for game day, its versatility makes it a great everyday companion. We used it for a weekend hike, and the handle made it easy to clip onto a backpack. The 24-ounce capacity is perfect for a long day of hydration, and the insulation kept our water ice-cold even on a hot trail. It's also a fantastic choice for tailgates, picnics, or even just lounging by the pool.
If you're looking for a tumbler that can transition from the stadium to the office, this is it. The stylish design is sure to spark conversations and show off your school pride wherever you go. Plus, with its durable construction, it's built to last for many seasons to come.
- 24-ounce capacity ideal for all-day hydration
- Handle makes it easy to carry or clip onto a bag
- Suitable for hiking, camping, and daily commutes
Comparing to Other Tumbler Options
There are many insulated tumblers on the market, but the Collegiate Trek Tumbler stands out for its combination of style and function. When compared to basic tumblers without handles, the Trek Tumbler's handle adds significant convenience. It also offers a larger capacity than some standard travel mugs, making it better suited for long events. The unique collegiate designs are a major differentiator, allowing fans to express their loyalty in a practical way.
For those who prefer a smaller option, the Sidekick Coffee Tumbler is a great alternative for hot beverages, but for cold drinks on game day, the Collegiate Trek Tumbler is hard to beat. If you're looking for a kids' version, the Summit Kids Water Bottle with Straw Lid offers similar insulation in a smaller size, perfect for young fans in the making.
- Handle provides extra convenience compared to handleless tumblers
- Larger capacity than standard travel mugs
- Unique collegiate designs set it apart from generic tumblers
The Collegiate Trek Tumbler is a standout choice for any college sports fan. Its excellent insulation, comfortable handle, and stylish design make it a must-have for game day. Whether you're tailgating, cheering in the stands, or just need a reliable tumbler for everyday use, this insulated tumbler with handle delivers on all fronts.
