Quick answer
Choose the 2L FlatPak for small electronics and daily essentials; pick the 8L for clothing, towels, or bulkier gear on day trips and kayak outings.
Capacity trade-off: compact vs versatile
The 2L model stows flat when empty and fits inside a jacket pocket or small camera pouch. It is ideal for a phone, wallet, keys, and a charging cable. The 8L model, while still packable, takes up more space and is better for a change of clothes, a waterproof jacket, or a small towel. If you only need to keep a few items dry, the 2L avoids wasted space. If you need to separate wet or dirty gear from clean items, the 8L gives you that flexibility.
Construction and closure differences
Both versions use fully welded construction for reliable waterproofing. The 8L model uses a larger roll-top closure that can seal more air volume, which helps when compressing bulky items. The 2L has a smaller roll-top that is quicker to close but less forgiving for oversized contents. Neither model includes a shoulder strap or attachment loops, so plan to stash them inside another bag.
Decision rules
- Protect electronics only: If your main concern is a phone, wallet, keys, and a small camera battery, the 2L FlatPak gives you waterproof storage without extra bulk.
- Carry clothing or a towel: If you need to keep a dry shirt, a rain shell, or a beach towel separate from damp gear, choose the 8L. It can also hold a small first-aid kit and snacks.
- Pack inside another bag: Both sizes are designed to be stowed inside a backpack or duffel. If your main bag is a 20–30L daypack, the 2L fits in a side pocket; the 8L works best in the main compartment. Measure your bag’s interior before buying to avoid overstuffing.
