Quick answer
Choose Duffields Sow Rolls if maximizing milk quality and litter size is your priority; pick Duffields Ultimate Sow Pencils if you need a convenient, easy-to-store feed for regular sow feeding routines.
Nutritional focus: milk quality vs. balanced maintenance
The primary difference between these two feeds lies in their intended role. Sow Rolls are formulated with high levels of vitamins and minerals specifically to boost milk quality, conception rates, and sow longevity. Ultimate Sow Pencils, on the other hand, provide a reliable, balanced nutrition source for everyday feeding, without the same targeted emphasis on reproductive performance.
Convenience and storage
Both products come in 20 kg bags, but the Pencils are designed for simple dispensing and storage, making them a practical choice for farms where feed is moved frequently or stored in tight spaces. Sow Rolls are also easy to handle, though their nutritional density means you may need to adjust portion sizes more carefully.
Trade‑offs at a glance
- Nutritional density: Sow Rolls are fortified with extra vitamins and minerals to directly support milk production, conception, and sow longevity. Ultimate Sow Pencils provide balanced nutrition for general maintenance without the same targeted boost.
- Ease of use: Ultimate Sow Pencils are designed for simple dispensing and storage, making them ideal for farms where feed is moved or stored frequently. Sow Rolls are also easy to handle but may require more precise portioning due to their higher nutrient concentration.
- Cost per bag: Both products are priced at USD 10.49 (catalog comparison price USD 14.99), so the cost is identical. Your decision should be based on nutritional needs and handling preferences, not price. Since the price is the same, the choice comes down to whether you need the reproductive benefits of Sow Rolls or the convenience of Pencils.
