Quick Answer
The Extraordinary Tales Blu-ray + DVD combo gives you five Poe stories in both HD and standard definition, so you can watch on any player or TV setup. Choose the Blu-ray for the best picture and sound, and keep the DVD for portability or older equipment.
Why a Blu-ray + DVD combo makes sense
A Blu-ray + DVD combo pack is a practical choice if you have a mix of players in your home. The Blu-ray delivers high-definition video and audio, ideal for a home theater, while the DVD plays in laptops, older TVs, or car systems that lack Blu-ray support.
This release brings together five of Edgar Allan Poe's best-known stories in an animated anthology, narrated by legendary horror figures. Having both discs means you can enjoy it in the best quality at home or share it with someone who doesn't own a Blu-ray player.
What to expect from the animated anthology
The film features five Poe tales, each brought to life with a distinct visual style. The voice cast includes Sir Christopher Lee, Bela Lugosi, Julian Sands, Roger Corman, and Guillermo del Toro, adding a layer of horror pedigree that fans will appreciate.
Because the stories are animated, the Blu-ray's high resolution will make the artwork and textures stand out more than the DVD. If you're a fan of animation or Poe's gothic atmosphere, the Blu-ray is the way to watch.
Frequently Asked Questions
What stories are included in Extraordinary Tales?
The anthology adapts five of Poe's most famous tales, including 'The Fall of the House of Usher' and 'The Tell-Tale Heart,' each with a unique animation style. The Blu-ray and DVD contain the same film, so you can choose the format that fits your player.
Is there a difference between the Blu-ray and DVD discs?
The Blu-ray offers higher resolution and better audio, making it the best choice for home theaters. The DVD is standard definition and works in any DVD player, so it's handy for travel or older equipment. If you have a 4K TV, the Blu-ray will upscale better than the DVD, so prioritize it for your main viewing.
What bonus content is included?
While specific bonus features are not listed, the combo pack includes both discs, so you can enjoy the film in whichever format you prefer. Check the packaging for any extras that might be included. If bonus features are important to you, look for a release that clearly lists them; this one focuses on the film itself.
