Quick answer
The Falling Acrylic Pack is a premium upgrade that replaces standard cardboard tokens with durable, table-ready acrylic pieces. It's a worthwhile investment if you value tactile quality and long-term durability, but not essential for gameplay.
What you get in the pack
The Falling Acrylic Pack includes acrylic versions of the Coins, Guild tokens, and Gas tokens from the base game. These replace the standard cardboard components with a heavier, more premium feel that lies flat and resists wear.
The upgrade does not add new gameplay content—it's purely a cosmetic and tactile enhancement. If you already own the Falling Kickstarter Upgrade Pack, note that this acrylic set is a separate purchase and not included in that bundle.
Trade-offs to consider
The main trade-off is cost versus necessity. At a catalog price of USD 19.19 (down from USD 29.99), the pack adds a noticeable luxury feel but does not change how the game plays. For players on a budget, the standard cardboard tokens function perfectly well.
Another consideration is storage. The acrylic tokens are thicker than cardboard, so they may not fit in the original game insert without adjustment. Plan for a small storage solution if you prefer everything to stay neatly organized.
Decision rules for the Falling Acrylic Pack
- Do you play Falling frequently?: If you play the game multiple times a month, the acrylic tokens will hold up better than cardboard and improve the table presence each session. Frequent players get the most value from this upgrade.
- Is component feel important to you?: If you enjoy the heft and smooth texture of acrylic or metal components, this pack adds a satisfying tactile element that cardboard cannot match.
- Are you on a tight budget?: The pack costs extra and does not affect rules or strategy. If you prefer to spend on expansions or new games, skip this upgrade without missing any gameplay. Budget-conscious buyers can safely pass.
