Quick answer
Assemble the Figure-rise Mechanics Doraemon (Ganso Ver.) as a snap-fit model using colored parts, then optionally paint for a more accurate original look.
Why the Ganso Ver. is different
This kit recreates Doraemon's original yellow body and includes newly designed ears that the classic version lacks. The Hopter accessory fits both this and the previously released Figure-rise Mechanics Doraemon, giving you display options.
Because the yellow body is achieved with colored plastic, you can build a decent-looking model straight out of the box. However, the molded colors may not perfectly match the anime's original tones, so painting is recommended if accuracy matters to you.
Assembly and painting steps
- Step 1: Prepare the runners: Snip each part from the runner using side cutters, leaving a small nub. Sand the nub flush with a fine-grit file or sanding sponge. Common mistake: cutting too close to the part can stress the plastic and cause white stress marks. Always cut a little away and sand down.
- Step 2: Assemble the head and ears: Fit the newly designed ears into the head piece. Ensure the tabs align correctly before pressing firmly. The mouth piece has new tooling—check the orientation before snapping. Checkpoint: the ear pegs are small and can break if forced. If they resist, lightly sand the peg instead of pushing harder.
- Step 3: Build the body and limbs: Snap the torso halves together, then attach the arms and legs. The kit uses polycaps for joint movement—insert them fully to avoid loose limbs. Common mistake: forgetting to insert polycaps before closing the body halves. Once snapped, you cannot add them without disassembly.
- Step 4: Attach the Hopter: The Hopter mounts on Doraemon's head via a small peg. It is compatible with both the Ganso Ver. and the standard Figure-rise Mechanics Doraemon. Checkpoint: the Hopter peg is delicate. If it feels loose, apply a tiny drop of plastic cement to the peg hole to tighten the fit.
- Step 5: Paint for accuracy (optional): If you want a more vibrant yellow or a matte finish, prime the yellow parts with a light gray primer, then spray with a yellow acrylic or lacquer paint. Mask the face and eyes before painting the body. Common mistake: painting over bare plastic without primer can cause paint to chip during handling. Always prime first.

Figure-rise Mechanics Doraemon (Ganso Ver.): The Ganso Doraemon features yellow body colors recreated with colored parts, and ears unique to the original design are newly tooled. You can build a recognizable Doraemon without painting, but the ears and yellow body require careful assembly to avoid visible seams.
