Quick answer

The Fuelbase Max 2 is a two-in-one charger for your devices, not a speaker. The Dime Evo is a true wireless earbud with a clip-on design for music on the go. If you need to charge a phone and earbuds simultaneously, choose the Fuelbase Max 2. If you want portable audio, go with the Dime Evo.

What each product actually does

The Fuelbase Max 2 is a compact charging station that can power two devices at once from a single plug. It delivers 15 watts total output, so it charges quickly whether you plug in one phone or two. It takes up about the same space as a single charging pad, making it a tidy desk or nightstand addition.

The Dime Evo is a pair of true wireless earbuds with a built-in clip. You can attach it to a backpack, key ring, or belt loop so the case is always within reach. It delivers Skullcandy's signature sound and essential features in a design that stands out.

Key differences at a glance

The Fuelbase Max 2 charges devices; the Dime Evo plays audio. That is the core distinction. The Fuelbase Max 2 has no speaker or microphone — it is purely a charger. The Dime Evo has no charging output for other devices — it is purely an audio earbud with a charging case. If you need both functions, you would buy both products, not choose between them.

Tradeoffs to consider

  • Charging vs audio: The Fuelbase Max 2 charges your phone and earbuds; the Dime Evo plays music. You cannot replace one with the other. If you already own a charger, the Dime Evo adds audio. If you already own earbuds, the Fuelbase Max 2 keeps them powered. Identify your primary need: power or sound.
  • Portability style: The Fuelbase Max 2 is designed for a fixed spot — desk, nightstand, kitchen counter. The Dime Evo is built to travel with you, clipped to your gear. One stays put; the other goes everywhere. Choose based on where you spend most of your time.
  • Price and value: At a catalog comparison price of $51.99 (typically sold for $31.19), the Fuelbase Max 2 is a dedicated charger. The Dime Evo, at a catalog comparison price of $49.99 (typically $32.49), is a full wireless earbud system. Both offer strong value in their categories, but they serve completely different jobs. Compare within the same product category, not across categories.

Product facts

  • Fuelbase™ Max 2: TWO-IN-ONE CHARGER. Fuelbase Max 2 uses one plug and only takes up the space of one charging pad, but it can charge two devices at once. It's fast too. With 15 watts of total output, it will juice up one device or two faster than you can say “my phone's almost dead.” If you carry multiple gadgets, this charger saves outlet space and cuts clutter while still delivering decent charging speed.
  • Dime® Evo: CLIP IT AND RIP IT Every hero needs a sidekick. Dime Evo is yours. Clip it to your backpack, key ring or pants and you’ll never be without your music, movies or podcasts again. It’s packing big sound, all the essential features and a look unlike anything else. The clip means you can keep the earbuds case attached to your bag or belt, so you are less likely to misplace it during commutes, hikes, or errands.
