Quick answer

Choose the Funko Jumbo Chan Speed Racer if you love classic 60s racing iconography; pick the Gatchaman if you prefer bold superhero retro styling. Both are limited to 1200 pieces.

Design roots and character appeal

Both Jumbo Chan figures draw from Funko's reverence for 1960s–80s Japanese license nostalgia. Speed Racer captures the iconic Mach 5 driver in his classic racing gear, while Gatchaman presents the blue-and-white suited hero from the classic science team series. Your choice depends on which retro universe resonates more with your collection theme.

Limited edition and collectibility

Each Jumbo Chan is a limited edition of 1200 pieces worldwide, making both figures genuinely rare. The edition size is identical, so rarity alone won't sway the decision—focus on character affinity and display presence.

Trade-offs at a glance

  • Speed Racer: nostalgia for racing fans: If the Mach 5 and retro racing aesthetic are your passion, Speed Racer is the clear choice. Its classic red and white suit pops against darker displays.
  • Gatchaman: bold superhero presence: If you prefer a bright blue-and-white hero with a more action-oriented stance, Gatchaman delivers a bolder silhouette that draws the eye.
  • Both share identical rarity and build: Each figure is a 14-inch vinyl collectible limited to 1200 pieces. Neither is objectively more collectible—choose based on character loyalty. Your decision hinges on personal nostalgia, not scarcity.
