Quick answer
Gacha and blind boxes both offer random collectibles, but gacha series like the We Are the Instant Noodle figures often allow design requests, while blind boxes do not. The main myth is that gacha is always cheaper—pricing varies by series.
Why the pricing myth persists
Many collectors assume gacha is always a low-cost alternative to blind boxes, but that's not a rule. The We Are the Instant Noodle mascot figures Gacha Series is priced at USD 2.56 (compared to USD 4.00), making it an affordable entry point, but other gacha series may cost more. The key is to check each series individually rather than assume a blanket price advantage.
The request myth: gacha is not completely random
A common belief is that gacha is purely random with no way to influence the outcome. In reality, for this series, you can leave a design request on the cart page, and the store will try to fulfill it. This adds a layer of control not available with standard blind boxes, though requests are not guaranteed.
Myth verdicts
- Myth: Gacha is always cheaper than blind boxes: False. While the We Are the Instant Noodle series is priced lower than its comparison price, gacha pricing varies by series. Always check the listed price before assuming a cost advantage. Compare prices per series, not by category.
- Myth: You have no control over what you get in a gacha: Partially false. For this series, you can submit a design request, and the store will try to honor it. However, it's not guaranteed, so you should be comfortable with randomness if you order. Use the request feature if you have a favorite, but accept the risk of receiving a random figure.
- Myth: Blind boxes and gacha are the same thing: False. Blind boxes typically offer no way to influence the contents, while gacha series like this one allow design requests. The purchasing experience and expectations differ. Understand the specific terms of each series before buying.
