Quick answer
Yes, glass dildos are safe when you choose a high-quality pyrex glass toy and follow basic care steps. We'll clear up the common myths so you can use yours with confidence.
Why material matters for safety
Not all glass is created equal. Pyrex glass (borosilicate) is tempered to handle temperature changes and impact better than ordinary glass. Both the Clarity Elysian Serenade and Icicles No. 05 are handblown from pyrex glass, which means they're built for use, not just display.
Myth vs. Fact: Glass Dildo Safety
- Myth: Glass dildos break easily inside you: Fact: Pyrex glass is tempered to be very strong. While no toy is indestructible, a quality pyrex dildo won't shatter under normal use. Always inspect for chips or cracks before each use.
- Myth: Glass dildos can't be used with silicone lube: Fact: Glass is non-porous and completely compatible with all lubricants, including silicone. You can use your favorite lube without worrying about damaging the toy.
- Myth: Glass dildos are difficult to clean: Fact: Glass is non-porous and easy to sanitize. Wash with soap and water, or boil for 5-10 minutes. You can also use a 10% bleach solution. Avoid extreme temperature changes (don't go from boiling to cold water) to prevent thermal shock. Allow the toy to cool naturally after boiling before rinsing with cool water.
