Quick Answer
For car use, the larger Great Lakes Loons Home State Sticker offers better visibility and a solid vinyl construction, while the Great Lakes Pontooners Mini Boat Sticker is more suited for gear like notebooks or laptops due to its compact size and lower price.
Size and Surface Considerations
The main difference between these two stickers comes down to size and where you plan to stick them. The Great Lakes Loons Home State Sticker measures about 5.5" tall by 5" wide, making it a prominent badge for a car bumper or rear window. The Great Lakes Pontooners Mini Boat Sticker is only 3" by 2", so it fits neatly on smaller, curved surfaces like a water bottle, laptop lid, or notebook cover.
For car exteriors, a larger sticker not only shows more detail but also adheres better to flat surfaces. On gear, a smaller sticker reduces the chance of peeling when flexing or rubbing against pockets.
Sticker Durability Trade-offs
- Car Use with Home State Sticker: The larger sticker provides a more visible display on your vehicle, but its size makes it more prone to dirt buildup along edges. Clean the surface with rubbing alcohol before applying and avoid high-pressure car washes for the first 48 hours.
- Gear Use with Mini Boat Sticker: The smaller sticker is easier to apply on curves, but its vinyl may wear faster if placed on frequently handled items like water bottles or laptops. Let the adhesive cure for 24 hours before light use, and hand-wash the item if possible.
- General Care for Both: Both stickers are made for outdoor use but can fade over time with prolonged direct sunlight. Park in the shade or apply a thin UV-protective clear coat on car stickers. For gear, keep away from abrasive surfaces to avoid scratches. Apply to clean, dry, smooth surfaces for best adhesion; avoid extreme temperatures during application.
