Quick answer

Assemble your Leone cat tree by laying out all parts first, then following the numbered steps from the base up. Pay close attention to bolt orientation and tighten gradually to avoid wobbles.

Before You Start: Check Your Color and Parts

The Leone is available in Cotton White, Bullet Gray, and Brown. If you ordered Cotton White, it is on backorder and will ship mid December — the other colors ship in one business day. Before unpacking, confirm you have the correct color and all replacement parts or upgrades if ordered separately.

Why Assembly Order Matters

Many cat tree wobbles come from tightening screws too early or in the wrong sequence. The Leone's large size means each platform must be level before the next goes on. Skipping the order can force you to disassemble and start over.

Step-by-Step Assembly Instructions

  1. Unpack and Organize All Parts: Lay out all wooden panels, poles, screws, bolts, and tools on a clean floor. Separate the base, middle platforms, top perches, and hardware into groups. Missing a part? Check the box thoroughly before contacting support — small hardware often hides in corners.
  2. Attach the Base to the First Pole: Insert the largest pole into the base plate. Align the pre-drilled holes and hand-tighten the bolts. Do not fully tighten yet — leave a little play for alignment. Common mistake: overtightening the base bolts before the pole is perfectly vertical, which causes a lean.
  3. Add the First Platform: Slide the first platform onto the pole. Ensure it sits flat and the screw holes line up with the pole's pre-drilled holes. Insert and hand-tighten bolts. Check that the platform is level using a small spirit level or a visual check against the floor. An uneven platform will make higher levels unstable.
  4. Stack Remaining Poles and Platforms: Continue adding poles and platforms in the order shown in the manual. For each level, hand-tighten bolts, then check level before moving up. Skip a level? Never stack two poles without a platform between them — the tree will lack stability.
  5. Tighten All Bolts Gradually: Starting from the base, go through every bolt and tighten them with the tool. Work your way up, tightening each bolt a little at a time rather than one bolt fully. Final check: gently rock the tree. If it wobbles, loosen the top bolts slightly, re-level the base, then retighten from bottom to top.
  6. Attach the Top Perch and Accessories: Place the top perch (the throne-like platform) and any included toys or cushions. Ensure they click or screw into place securely. Do not let your cat jump onto the top perch until all bolts are fully tightened — it can shift during play.
