Quick answer
To choose the right Elton John cassette, decide between the collaborative new album Who Believes in Angels? (available in sea green or purple) and the hit-packed The Lockdown Sessions (blue glitter). Your pick depends on whether you want fresh duets or proven chart-toppers.
Why cassette?
Cassettes offer a warm, nostalgic sound and a tangible way to own music. Elton John's limited edition cassettes are collectible items that often feature unique colors and packaging not available on digital or vinyl formats.
Who Believes in Angels? vs. The Lockdown Sessions
Who Believes in Angels? is a fresh collaborative album with Brandi Carlile, blending both artists' songwriting and vocals. The Lockdown Sessions is a compilation of collaborations recorded during the pandemic, featuring hits like "Cold Heart" with Dua Lipa and "Always Love You" with Young Thug and Nicki Minaj.
How to choose your Elton John cassette in 3 steps
- Decide on the album content: Do you want the brand-new collaborative album Who Believes in Angels? or the pandemic-era hit collection The Lockdown Sessions? The former offers fresh Elton John and Brandi Carlile duets; the latter includes radio favorites like "Cold Heart." Common mistake: buying based on color alone and later wishing you had the other album. Listen to a few tracks online first.
- Choose your cassette color: Who Believes in Angels? comes in sea green or purple. The Lockdown Sessions comes in blue glitter. The color does not affect sound quality, so pick the one that fits your collection or personal taste. Check the product images: the sea green is a muted pastel, while the blue glitter has a sparkly finish. Purple is a solid, rich tone.
- Check the price and availability: The purple cassette is priced lower than the sea green edition. The blue glitter cassette is in a similar mid-range. Limited editions may sell out, so if you see one you like, consider buying sooner rather than later. Don't assume the cheapest option is the best value—make sure you actually want the album content first.
