Quick answer
Clean your 46-inch rubber snake with mild soap and warm water, then dry it thoroughly to prevent mold.
Why gentle cleaning matters
Long rubber snakes like the Wild Republic 46-inch Green Garden Snake are flexible and realistic, but harsh chemicals or scrubbing can damage the surface or fade the paint. A gentle approach keeps the toy safe for play and educational use.
Step-by-step cleaning guide
- Prepare your cleaning solution: Fill a basin or sink with warm water and add a few drops of mild dish soap. Avoid bleach, ammonia, or abrasive cleaners. Using too much soap can leave a sticky film.
- Wipe down the entire snake: Dip a soft cloth or sponge in the soapy water, wring it out until damp, and gently wipe the rubber snake from head to tail. Pay attention to textured areas where dirt can hide. Don't submerge the snake, as water can get trapped inside if there are any small openings.
- Rinse with a clean damp cloth: Use a second cloth dampened with plain water to wipe away any soap residue. Soap left on the rubber can attract more dirt. Residue can also feel slippery, which may be a safety concern during play.
- Dry the snake completely: Lay the snake flat on a clean, dry towel and pat it dry. Then let it air dry in a well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight. Direct sun can cause the rubber to fade or become brittle. Make sure the snake is completely dry before storing it to prevent mold growth.
- Store it properly: Coil the snake loosely in a cool, dry place away from heat sources and sharp objects. Avoid folding it sharply, as this can create permanent creases. Storing it in a plastic bag can trap moisture; use a breathable container instead.
