Quick Answer

Clean your anime platelight acrylic with a soft microfiber cloth and a gentle cleaner to avoid scratches and maintain the vibrant backlit effect.

Why Proper Care Matters for Your Platelight Acrylic

Anime platelight acrylic panels are designed to diffuse light beautifully inside your PC case, but they are prone to dust and scratches if handled roughly. The high-quality acrylic material requires specific care to keep the artwork crisp and the backlighting even.

Using the wrong cleaner or cloth can cloud the acrylic or leave permanent marks. Understanding what to avoid is just as important as knowing the right steps.

Step-by-Step Cleaning and Care Guide

  1. Step 1: Power Down and Unplug: Turn off your PC and unplug the Platelight power source. This prevents accidental electrical contact and lets you see dust clearly against the unlit panel. Never clean a powered-on Platelight; the risk of static discharge or liquid contact is not worth it.
  2. Step 2: Remove the Acrylic Panel: Gently detach the acrylic panel from its mounting. Hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints on the display surface. Place it on a soft, clean surface like a microfiber cloth or towel. Avoid gripping the panel by the corners if they are sharp; use the flat edges to prevent stress cracks.
  3. Step 3: Dry Dust First: Use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to lightly wipe away loose dust. Work in one direction—not circular—to avoid grinding particles into the acrylic. For stubborn dust, use compressed air from a distance. Do not use paper towels or tissues; they contain fibers that can scratch the acrylic surface.
  4. Step 4: Damp Clean with Care: Dampen a fresh microfiber cloth with distilled water or a 50/50 mix of distilled water and isopropyl alcohol (70% or less). Wring it out so it is barely damp. Wipe the panel gently, again in straight strokes. Never spray liquid directly onto the acrylic; it can seep into edges or mounting holes and damage the light source.
  5. Step 5: Dry and Inspect: Immediately dry the panel with a separate dry microfiber cloth using light pressure. Hold it up to a light source to check for streaks or missed spots. Repeat the damp step only if needed. If you see haze, you may have used too much liquid or the wrong cleaner. Stop and use a fresh damp cloth with just water.
  6. Step 6: Reinstall Carefully: Once the panel is completely dry, reattach it to the mounting. Plug the Platelight back in and power on your PC. Enjoy the refreshed, clear backlit artwork. Make sure the panel is fully dry before powering on; trapped moisture can cause fogging or electrical issues.
