Quick answer
Place the filled baby bottle or food jar into the Dr. Brown's Insta-Feed™ Warmer, add the recommended water level, select the cycle, and let it warm in as little as 80 seconds. Always test the temperature on your wrist before feeding.
Why warming matters and how this warmer helps
Warming a bottle to body temperature makes feeding more comfortable for most babies and helps preserve nutrients in breast milk. The Dr. Brown's Insta-Feed™ Warmer is designed to heat evenly and quickly, reducing the risk of hot spots that can burn your baby's mouth.
Unlike microwaving, which can create uneven heat and destroy beneficial antibodies, a dedicated bottle warmer uses gentle, controlled warmth. The compact size of this warmer also means it fits neatly on your counter without taking up much space.
How to warm a bottle with Dr. Brown's Insta-Feed™ Warmer
- Prepare the bottle: Fill the bottle with the desired amount of breast milk or formula. Do not overfill — leave about an inch of headspace to allow for expansion during warming. Common mistake: filling to the brim can cause spills or uneven heating.
- Add water to the warmer: Pour fresh tap water into the warmer's reservoir up to the indicated fill line. Using too little water may result in incomplete heating; too much can overflow. Check the manual for exact water volume — it varies by bottle size.
- Place the bottle and start the cycle: Set the bottle or food jar securely inside the warmer. Close the lid and press the start button. The warmer will automatically heat and shut off when done. Do not leave the warmer unattended — listen for the cycle completion tone.
- Test the temperature before feeding: Remove the bottle carefully (it will be hot). Shake gently to distribute heat evenly, then squeeze a few drops onto the inside of your wrist. It should feel warm, not hot. Never microwave breast milk or formula — it destroys nutrients and creates dangerous hot spots.
